Text Box: Volunteer Health & Safety Instructor Job Description American Red Cross Island County Chapter Location:                    Primarily at the chapter office in Oak Harbor, other locations                                     As assigned. Position Title:             Health and Safety Instructor Purpose:                    To instruct American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED classes to                                     businesses and the community as assigned.  Community class size of no more then 8 participants per class   and business classes no more then 10 participants per class. Responsibilities:     Support the Red Cross Mission                                     Organize class material including video prior to class                                     Be available to teach at minimum 1 class a month                                     Minimum class including prep time is 5.5 hours                                     Maximum class including prep time is 10.5hours (Sat class)                                     Maintain clean and safe teaching environment                                     Administer practical skills                                     Must arrive to teaching site at least 30 minutes before class                                     Submit course record s and evaluations upon completion of                                      the class.                                     Promote and represent Red Cross services and opportunities. Qualifications:            Ability to work with diverse audiences                                     Ability to work well with people in groups, one-on-one, and in                                     problem solving situations                                     Excellent verbal and written communication skills                                     Past leadership experience or desire to develop leadership                                     abilities                                     Ability to lift and transport equipment                                     Must provide own transportation to various community sites                                     Pass CPR/First Aid skill test Training:                     American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor Course                                     Approx 16hrs (Must be 17 years of age by the completion of the                                     Instructor Course) including 4hrs of pre-course learning                                     material (Fundamental of Instructor Training)                                     Course fees of $150.00 (may be adjusted based on                                     Individual’s commitment to assisting with classes either prior                                     to or after taking the instructor class)                                     Must co-teach a First Aid, Adult CPR with AED and an Infant and                                     Child CPR class Reports to                  Mary Rose, Emergency Services Director Commitment time   The chapter request a one year commitment to teach CPR/                                     First Aid/AED courses upon obtaining instructor certification                                                                     

 

  Instructor candidates must complete a volunteer profile Volunteer Profile and complete an Instructor application  Instructor Application Form
