Purpose: To give individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for breathing emergencies, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
Learning Objectives:

Explain the three emergency action steps to follow in an emergency.

Learn the four life-threatening conditions for which you should check.
Ì
Recognize the signals of a heart attack.
Ì
Learn the cardiac chain of survival for a victim of cardiac arrest.
Ì
Learn the precautions for using an AED.
Ì
Demonstrate how to use basic precautions when caring for victims of
breathing and cardiac emergencies.
Ì
Demonstrate how to check an unconscious adult.
Ì
Demonstrate how to care for a conscious and an unconscious choking
adult.
Ì
Demonstrate how to give CPR to an adult.
Ì
Demonstrate how to use an AED for an adult
in cardiac arrest.
